The first shooter steps up we’ll say they make 3 and then miss the 4 th. You can decide the amount of shots they need to make in a row depending on the age and skill level.įor his example we’ll say they need to make 5 in a row. The goal of the drill is to make a certain number of shots in a row before the time expires. In-A-Row – Split your players up into groups of about 3 at each basket. And if he misses two, he runs a full lap all they way around the court.Ĥ. If he misses one, he does an up-and-back sprint. 5 minutes on the clock (or how ever many minutes you want). The only downside to that is the players won’t be as fatigued when they’re shooting their free-throws. If you don’t have enough rings for that, then it will work fine with more. Laps – This drill is best performed with 3 players at each basket. The rules being, if you make a shot you get 1 point, if you miss a shot you lose a point.ģ. Plus/Minus – Plus/Minus is similar to the ‘Swish’ free throw drill except you don’t need to swish the shot. To keep it simple, let’s say you start on 5 points and your goal is to get to 10. And for every miss, they get -1 points.Ģ. For every made basket that is not a swish, they get 0 points. The rules are: For every swish, the player gets 1 point. The way the drill works is the player shooting starts on 5 and the goal is to get to 10. Swish – Break your players up into two’s on three’s at each basket. If they’re on 7 and make a free throw they go to 8, but if they missed on 7, they would be on 5.ġ. This means that they start on 2 and must try to get to 10. Keep in mind when you’re reading the following drills that you can change how many points they get for a made basket and how many points they lose for a miss.įor instance, most of my players play ‘Plus 1, Minus 2’. ‘Team Drills’ are the drills that I recommend you use in your practice.īoth individual drills I’m about to share with you can be customised to the skill level of the player you’re coaching. These drills should be used when the player in training by themselves or in individual workouts. The ‘Individual Drills’ are drills that take longer to complete and are performed by only one player. They are broken up into two categories… team drills and individual drills. Here are the 5 drills you can use that will make your players better in-game free throw shooters. They’re barely ever going to shoot an un-fatigued free throw in a game, so why should they in practice? Do them after a hard conditioning drill. Make sure the players are fatigued before they step to the line. It will force your players to concentrate. The drills I’m about to share with you will accomplish this. We need to put them in that pressure mindset during these free throw drills to simulate the pressure of a real game. The players are in a completely different mindset when they’re under pressure. This is not what we want the players to do. The reason this is a poor method is because the players won’t be under pressure like they are when playing a game. They will just walk to the free-throw line and shoot without putting much effort or concentration into it. And unfortunately, this method is the most common among beginner coaches. The wrong way to practice free-throw shooting is telling your players to just “Shoot/make 5 free throws” between drills. I’m going to start by explaining the WRONG way to practice free-throw shooting. The Wrong Way to Practice Free-Throw Shooting I’m going to show you 5 drills you can use with your team to make them much better free-throw shooters.īut first I want to talk about the most common errors coaches make when teaching free-throw shooting… And when they do, they often don’t practice them in the most effective way. Every basketball coach knows that.īut even with this knowledge, most coaches still don’t spend enough time with their team practicing their free-throw shooting. To put it simply, free-throws are the most important shot in basketball. Close games are often decided by which teams can make the most free-throws down the stretch.

Let me give a brief explanation some students are virtual learners, so you would be able to hold their concentration by making a screen record of teachings from online sources and show it to them. It could be frustrating, but have you tried virtual teachings? One of the major problems a teacher can face is to be in a classroom where your students are not picking up the knowledge you are trying to impact, maybe they could, but they may not interested in giving you the attention you need. With improved clutch cooling and redesigned CVT to enhance airflow, the RZR XP offers both increased belt performance and a greater lifespan, which means less time in the shop and more time outdoors. Underpinned by an on-demand all-wheel-drive powertrain, the RZR XP transitions between two-wheel and all-wheel-drive with the flip of a switch-seamlessly distributing power and traction in the event of tire slippage while navigating technical features or obstacles.Įxtending durability and prolonging time between services were key areas of focus here. Not ten years later, in 2008 Polaris introduced the Ranger RZR, the first trail-capable and fastest accelerating side-by-side at the time. In 1999 it launched the Ranger, a utility task vehicle (UTV)-a larger, work-oriented side-by-side that is still one of the most popular Polaris vehicles. Still, the general goal is to shed some bytes while retaining excellent video quality. How you compress a video depends on what you want to preserve and prioritize in a video. However, WebM file compression also comes with a significant loss in video quality. AVI file compression keeps its original quality, making it ideal for storing videos in raw form and editing apps.Īnd the WebM file offers an even higher compression rate than the MP4 file. The AVI file, like the GIF file, can undergo lossless compression. The MOV file does lose data, but not as much as the MP4 file, so it retains better video quality. Most GIF files can be compressed with minimal data loss output. In contrast, the GIF file compresses very differently. Having a high compression rate, the MP4 can be compressed to a tiny file but comes at the cost of video and sound quality. The MP4 file has a high compression rate. With our complementary techniques, this puzzle took us about a week of short solving sessions to complete. When I get stuck on a particular piece, I hand it to him. While he does that, I sort all the pieces-first by type (edge or center), then by color-and methodically work my way through by sticking pieces together and seeing what happens. He picks up a random piece that strikes his fancy, compares it with the guide, and tries to figure out exactly where that piece lives. We have very different approaches to puzzles. My partner and I both love vintage posters with bold colors and fun typography, and when I stumbled across this vintage travel poster puzzle from Cavallini & Co., I knew it was the perfect gift. If-like me-you’re more of a jigsaw junior than a power puzzler, the following puzzles provide a balanced challenge, making them great options to begin piecing together your collection. These might be welcome challenges for seasoned puzzlers, but for beginners it can be maddening. Intricate patterns can overwhelm your eyes (especially during extended puzzling sessions), samey shapes can be hard to place, and soft, hazy watercolors increase difficulty, since they lend few clues as to which piece goes where. My colleagues also pointed out that difficulty is way less about piece count than what’s on the pieces. Senior staff writer Kimber Streams, meanwhile, generally gravitates to images they find aesthetically pleasing, leaning more on personal taste to figure out which puzzles might be worth tackling. Preferences vary, but senior staff writer and avid puzzler Tim Heffernan recommends designs with bold blocks of color that contain moderate levels of detail. Still, not every picture makes a great puzzle. Puzzles can be a focal point for a group to gather and share some time together, or they can be a soothing balm for a solo mind, encouraging the solver to transform disjointed chaos into pleasant order. When puzzlers focus their attention on a new puzzle, they can see new details and develop a deeper appreciation of the artwork they’re reconstructing. Conversations with puzzle-loving co-workers have only deepened this appreciation, so I’ve collected a number of their recommendations here. But over the past few years, when I didn’t have as many options to socialize with friends and found myself tired of staring at a screen, I became more open to the quiet, intense focus that solving a puzzle can bring. When I was younger I didn’t really understand this, preferring to spend my time with more interactive or social games and activities.
